LENSES
Lens Material
Choosing the right material for your prescription lenses is important for comfort and durability. Most lenses are made from lightweight plastic, but options like high-index plastic, polycarbonate, and Trivex provide thinner, lighter, and more durable choices.
CR-39
When choosing eyewear, CR-39 lenses offer good optical clarity but tend to be thicker and may lack the impact resistance found in other materials. Therefore, we do not recommend using plastic lenses in situations where damage or injury could occur.
POLYCARBONATE
For lightweight eyewear with excellent impact resistance, polycarbonate lenses are a great option. While they are thinner and lighter than CR-39 lenses, there may be a minor compromise in clarity. Their durability makes them ideal for safety eyewear, as they can withstand greater force before breaking compared to other lens types.
TRIVEX
For lightweight lenses that provide superior impact resistance and excellent optical clarity, we recommend Trivex lenses. These lenses are lighter than polycarbonate and offer enhanced optical qualities, making them ideal for everyday use.
HIGH INDEX
If you have a strong prescription, our opticians may suggest high-index lenses. These lenses provide a more attractive appearance, reduce weight, and enhance comfort.
